I hate writing about myself but I feel like some of you might be a little big curious as to what I am all about. So here goes…
My name is Hali (pronounced exactly as it’s spelt, please please please do not call me Hailey) and I am 21 years old. I am mixed heritage including Cree, Metis, French, English, Scottish, Irish and Scandinavian.
I live in the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-waututh nations. I encourage you all to keep up on who traditionally lived in the areas you now occupy, but for those of you who aren’t aware, this means I live in Vancouver. I currently work as a daycare teacher and I’m a college student.
And finally, for those who care, this is what I look like:

Summer ’17
Or at least, its what I looked like. Winter ’17 Hali probably looks a bit racoon-eyed. Anyway, now that, that awkwardness is over we can move onto more important topics, about the blog!
I created this blog because I like to pretend to be creative. I’ve never actually created anything that meaningful… but I’ll keep trying. I guess that’s why my mom calls me a pitbull (Mrs. Worldwide?).
Illumi(-)native is my little corner of the internet. It hosts all my thoughts, feelings, experiences and art. Plus, as an Indigenous person most of my posts will be, on some level, influenced by this identity. Illumi-native shines a light on my Native life… get it?
If you wanna be internet friends feel free to comment on my posts or contact me by e-mail (illuminativeblog@gmail.com), on twitter (@illumi_native), or on instagram (@illuminativeblog).
